Some major points of contention regarding this 'mosque' nonsense:

- rights guaranteed in our constitution are rights guaranteed in our constitution, not "political footballs."

- it doesn't f-ing matter what the president, newt, you or i think about it. again, it's a right guaranteed in our constitution. STOP TALKING ABOUT WHAT EVERYONE THINKS ABOUT IT!!!!! AGGHHHH!

- Sufis, people. Sufis.

- Islamic center and prayer space, not 'mosque,' people.

- Shifting the public dialogue. Instead of debating "the wisdom" of placing an Islamic center 5 blocks from Ground Zero, can we discuss "the glaring lack of ethics and basic respect" scary people on the Right have been showing Muslim Americans with their recent incendiary and insulting rhetoric? THAT's what people should be talking about, not "the wisdom" on a cultural center being built in a dilapidated corner of Manhatten.

Ugh, I could say more but I am going to let this beast rest for a few days. Let's just act like civil human beings for a spell, eh?
